The Human Rights Campaign recently released a report surveying bills written throughout the United States for the year of 2008. The report looks at bills both for and against LGBT rights and their current status.
Newly appointed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is currently being lobbied by members of Congress to make the State Department more equitable for gay and lesbian employees. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Russ Feingold (D-WI), Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) are working in conjunction with Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies to help enact policies that would allow them domestic partnership and other benefits.
Minnesota’s Rainbow Families and OutFront are currently drafting the Safe Schools for All Bill. This bill would afford students protection on the basis of sexual orientation and gender expression.
The Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism currently launched a “microsite” to attract LGBT consumers to the region.
The 17th Annual Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference is coming up! Indiana University in Bloomington will see students from all over the Midwest come through February 13-15 to attend workshops on identity and meet with prominent LGBT figures.
